Quiver is a notebook made specifically for programmers. It allows you to quickly locate any note with full-text search, write code with an amazing code editor, preview Markdown and LaTeX in real time, and combine text, code, Markdown, and LaTeX in a single note.
Oddities:
- Combine text and code: In Quiver, a note is made up of cells that include text, code, Markdown, LaTeX (using MathJax), or diagrams (flowchart, sequence diagram). In a single note, you are free to combine several cell types. Additionally, you can designate distinct languages for various code cells.
- Excellent Code Editor: Editing code should be made simpler with a programmer’s notebook. With syntax highlighting for more than 120 languages, more than 20 themes, automated indentation and scribbling, and much more, Quiver packs the incredible ACE code editor into code cells.
- Support for Markdown: Quiver allows you to write in Markdown with custom CSS settings and built-in formatting. As you type, the Markdown is shown in a preview window.
- LaTeX support: Quiver typesets mathematical equations written in LaTeX using MathJax. Please be aware that a complete LaTeX environment is not provided by MathJax. There is only support for math mode macros.
- Images, files, and links: If you drag an image into a text cell, it will be saved locally with the note. When a file is dragged into a text cell, it becomes a clickable link. Text cell URLs are automatically recognised.
- Instant full-text search: Notes are only helpful if you can locate them fast. Search Kit, the same technology that powers Spotlight on your Mac, powers Quiver’s full-text search. Quiver is able to quickly search through thousands of notes in this way.
- Stunning, Completely Customisable Themes: Quiver has a number of stunning, completely customisable user interface themes. Quiver offers a full-screen presentation mode for your notes. This works well for presentations, group discussions, classroom use, and independent note-taking.
- – Tags: Quiver is compatible with tags. A note may have more than one tag applied to it, or several notes may be tagged simultaneously. You can arrange your notes in a variety of ways by combining connected notes and notebooks.
- Autosave: You won’t have to worry about losing your modifications because Quiver automatically saves all of your changes while you work. Quiver stores all of your data in straightforward JSON files using the standard JSON data format. Your local computer is where these data files are kept. Exporting your notes to different formats, such as HTML and PDF, is simple.
- Integrations: You are not locked in by Quiver. It uses a straightforward, well-documented JSON format to store data. Writing programs to incorporate Quiver notes with other tools is made simple by this. The Quiver documentation website has common scripts.
- Cloud sync: Quiver enables you to use Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or any other cloud file provider to sync all of your notes across several machines.
- Teamwork: Quiver facilitates teamwork. To allow everyone in your team to access and edit notes, you can set up a shared notebook. This is a fantastic technique to help your team develop a common knowledge base.
- Version Control: Quiver makes it simple to implement version control for a single notebook or the full library because all data is stored in straightforward JSON files. This is an additional method of teamwork.
- Backup and Restore: With only one click, Quiver allows you to backup your complete collection. It’s as simple to restore your library from a backup.
