Orra Audio Orra Space is a device that combines five different kinds of spatial reverb with tape delay. A simple foundation, a retro persona over top, and total blending flexibility. The plugin creates a single, handy Blend control by combining two parallel processing engines.
Orra Audio Orra Space is a creative tape delay and reverb plugin that lets you run several spatial engines simultaneously and combine them. It is well-known for its strong integration with the Orra Link sidechain ecosystem and cross-pollination of geographical effects.
Spatial Engines in Parallel
Fundamentally, the plugin allows you to mix five custom reverbs with a certain tape delay. You can run these engines in parallel and utilise a single, user-friendly BLEND crossfader to sweep over various sound textures or mix them to taste, as opposed to passing your signal through a linear chain of effects.
Creative Ducking
The integrated ducking control (also known as the ‘DUCK’ control), which makes room for important components in your mix, is one of Orra Space’s most notable features.
Innovative Tape Emulation & Tone-Shaping
The plugin functions as a complete tone-shaping tool for your wet signal, going beyond simple spatial placement. It has built-in shimmering, FREEZE, and X-Feed functions. You can also add analogue flavour, modulation, and retro wobble to your echoes by using a reverse tape delay.
Important aspects of Orra Space:
- Tape Delay + Five Reverbs: operates a specialised tape delay engine in conjunction with five custom reverbs. A single combined crossfade control can be used to combine these components to taste.
- Orra Link Integration: Completely circumvents DAW routing restrictions by enabling you to initiate the plugin’s integrated reverb ducking from any track in your project via 36 assignable sidechain channels.
- Duck Function: To avoid muddying busy parts, the duck function automatically pulls the wet signal (reverb tails and tape echoes) down while a key source plays, allowing it to bloom back in during gaps.
- Creative Processing: SHIMMER, X-Feed, and a FREEZE option for large ambient textures are all included in Creative Processing.
- Tone Shaping: Includes a thorough tone-shaping function that is only used for wet signal processing.
Your dry instrument is supplied to the reverb and delay simultaneously, as opposed to one at a time, in contrast to traditional setups. The Mix knob modifies the total effect level while preserving the original track’s volume, while the Blend knob smoothly alternates between the clean echo and the reverb.
To prevent your reverb tails from washing out busy leads, kicks, or vocals, you can use Orra Link to simultaneously activate the reverb ducking from any track in your session. During active portions, the “wet” signal can be kept entirely clear thanks to the ducking feature, which also allows it to gorgeously blossom back in the spaces.
