Soliste is a line of cutting-edge solo string instruments designed with physical modelling for dynamic, expressive live performances. The violin (VLN 356), viola (VLA 419), cello (CLO 759), and double bass (DBS 1130) are the four traditional instruments in the set. The kit provides easy control over all the nuances of performance while you play and is specifically made to work with MPE and traditional MIDI controllers.
The main characteristic of Soliste is its total rejection of conventional samples or audio that has already been captured. Rather, the software replicates the physical characteristics of actual strings and a bow beneath your fingertips using mathematics.
Three Different Playing Styles:
Soliste employs Classic, Virtuoso, and Expressive Bow styles in place of strict keyswitching. These use continuous MPE data to provide you with varied control over note attacks, bow strokes, and back-and-forth bowing motions.
Real-time Performance Over Articulations:
You can directly and continuously manipulate the physical aspects of string playing, such as vibrato depth, portamento speed, and bow noise, thanks to the instrument’s pitch and bow pages. This enables real-time sculpting of articulations.
Customizable Resonant Bodies:
Users can switch between six distinct “body and cavity” kinds using the software’s interface, which offers a highly visual depiction of the instruments. This allows you to adjust the tone in a variety of ways, from an aggressive modern sound to an ancient, woodsy tone.
No “Machine Gun” Effect:
The repetitive, robotic sound of conventional sample libraries is eliminated since every nuance (such as attack intensity, pressure, and vibrato) is produced via continuous modelling rather than pre-recorded loops, making repeated notes sound entirely natural.
Wide-ranging DAW Compatibility:
Although designed for MPE controllers, the plugin functions as an AU/VST2/VST3 on Windows and macOS. It also adjusts to regular MIDI controllers with modulation assignments that may be changed.
Features of the Collection:
- Using physical modelling rather than samples. A virtual bow creates sound in real time, making it difficult to distinguish between a live performance and a computer instrument.
- Total control over the bow. You have complete control over every gesture, movement, and stroke, providing you with amazing performance versatility that was previously unattainable with traditional keyboards.
- Endorsement of contemporary standards (MPE). By enabling autonomous control over the expressiveness and detail of each note within a chord played, the plugin flawlessly leverages the power of new-generation controllers.
